Stiftsmuseum Millstatt
Millstatt
The history of the town is closely connected with Millstatt Abbey, which was the spiritual and cultural centre of Upper Carinthia for centuries and is one of the most important Romanesque buildings in Carinthia. The Millstatt Abbey Museum was founded in 1981 by Prof. Dr. Franz Nikolasch and offers a comprehensive overview of the history of Millstatt and the cultural assets associated with it. The Romanesque cloister and the collegiate church can be visited free of charge.
Tip: The collegiate church and the Romanesque cloister are open to the public from 10 am.
The period from 1848 onwards is documented in the museum of local history and tourism in Obermillstatt 7 with refreshments in the museum lounge.
